One can order the Asaro model from Planes of the Head, as of 8-4-2011. The original head and booklet are $98, and several more heads are available.

Fantastic sculpture. I was just revisiting my youth by browsing under Micronauts when i came upon this. Best issues featuring Bug were #'s 19 & 20 (according to a search I did just now). I remember the inspired* art of Pat Broderick, where they encounter a guy named Odd John.
*(and seldom seen outside of covers, if I remember right)
Again, I really like what you're doing here. Thanks for sharing the process.

Hey Chris! That is a great idea, it would allow me to make another mold of it if I do like the effect. Thanks for the tip.

I used to work for Mindfuse Games, but I just started a small iPhone development company called Frozen Giant.

Hi, Jason,

Why didn't you brush some epoxy on the piece of fabric, similar to fiberglass and then wrap it around the head after your waste mold was made, as that way you would have a perfect head in case the look was not what you wanted. Then with re: to the fabric detail, which would be hardened, it would have the desired effect of fabric, but not be porous. Just a suggestion.

Keep up the great sculpting. Can I ask what game studio you work for? Hope you are working on a fun project at the day job and looking forward to more of your after work adventures in sculpting.

They are indeed available at planesofthehead.com, which is the only authorized seller of this piece. The ones on eBay appear to be illegal knock-offs and don't have all the features of the real one.

Scroll down and you'll seethe squeeze kind. They just take denatured alcohol. I get mine from a local store in the Bay area, called ArtStuf.

Hi. I clicked on the link to the head on ebay and it went to "Planets of the Head." No head there. Maybe they aren't available any more?

I saw one of the plastic ones that came from Rhino Art in California and it was kind of rough compared to the one you show here.
